WITH A NEW SEASON COMES A NEW PRACTICE!

Whether you are new to yoga or just looking to refocus and strengthen your current practice, Loka Studios has got you covered.
Loka's Beginner's Series is designed for students who are new, have a limited amount of experience, or looking for a yoga practice that suits their needs. This series will teach you how to build a safe and effective yoga practice that can be used daily at home, work, or on vacation.


Yoga can:

  • increase strength & flexibility
  • improved balance & sleep
  • reduce stress & pain


Come explore anatomy, breath, and meditation techniques adaptable for you and learn a little bit about Yoga Philosophy and Sanskrit terms used in Yoga. 


(Yoga is a non-secular practice, open to all religions.)

Course meets on Sundays, 1:00PM to 3:00PM at Loka Studios located at 18817 FM 2252, San Antonio, TX 78266.

LEAD TEACHER:  KANANI THOMPSON

Kanani completed her initial 200-hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training at Yoga Yoga Studios in Austin, Texas under the Hatha Viniyoga/Yoga Therapy discipline in 2008. She enhanced her Yoga Therapy training and certified as a Relax & Renew® Restorative Yoga Teacher and went on to study iRest®/Yoga Nidra and advanced meditation. Kanani added to her traditional yoga and meditation therapies as a certified Aroma Yoga® Teacher incorporating Therapeutic-grade Essential Oils into her wellness practices. She opened Loka Studios in 2011, is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher and Registered Yoga School with the national Yoga Alliance and is a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists. 

Kanani spent 22 years serving on Active Duty and in the Air Force Reserves serving as a Medical Administration Technician and an Intelligence Analyst, and continues to be an integral part of the military family today as a reservist. She is an avid dog-lover, essential oils enthusiast and supporter of local non-profit organizations.


CO-LEAD TEACHER: JENN MORRIS


Jennifer Morris, RYT, received her 200-hour Hatha Flow Teacher Training from Yoga Yoga Studios in Austin, Texas. Her Hatha Flow teaching style ranges from slow flow to high energy based on the needs of the class.

She has been practicing yoga for almost two decades, and as she has grown in life, her practice has evolved with her. When she started practicing, she preferred the vigorous styles of vinyasa and power yoga. In 2008, she suffered a personal tragedy and yoga became something that centered her and helped move her through the rough times through pranayama and meditation. Today she enjoys a mixture of flow based practices, restorative, Kundalini, meditation and pranayama.

Jennifer hopes to help others find the yoga that best serves them. Whether it is a strong physical practice, a gentle restorative practice or the centering of meditation and pranayama – there is a style of yoga for everyone. And the best thing about yoga is that as we grow and change, it moves along with us.
